Friends of Bukomansimbi Charity Organisation (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We aim to handle personal data in line with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 of Uganda.

Who we are

We are a community-driven charity organisation based in Kampala, Uganda, working with communities in Bukomansimbi on youth empowerment, health and community welfare, and education support. What information we collect

• Contact and volunteer forms: your name, email address, phone number and the message you send us.
• Donations: your name, email address, phone number, address, country, the amount and cause you donate to, and the payment method you choose. Online payments are processed by our payment providers (PayPal and Stripe). We do not see or store your full card details. For bank transfers, we keep the transfer details you send us so we can confirm your gift.
• Accounts: if you create an account to follow your donations, we store your name, email address and login details.
• Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe to receive updates from us.
• Technical data and cookies: basic information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies. You can accept, reject or customise non-essential cookies using the cookie banner on this site.

How we use your information

• to respond to your enquiries and volunteer applications;
• to process your donations, confirm receipt and issue records or receipts;
• to send you updates about our work, only if you have subscribed, and you can unsubscribe at any time;
• to keep this website secure, working properly and easy to use;
• to meet our legal, accounting and reporting obligations.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the website and our work, such as payment processors (PayPal, Stripe), our web hosting and email providers, and our website translation service, and only as needed for those purposes. We may also disclose information where required by law.

How long we keep your information

We keep enquiries and volunteer applications for as long as needed to respond and follow up. We keep donation records for as long as required for our accounting and legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it.

Your rights

You may ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for certain purposes, and you may withdraw your consent at any time. To do so, email info@friendsofbukomansimbi.org. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Office in Uganda.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
